think they have power over me
constantly
waving the rentbook like it’s
the oracle

So now
we sit in silence, smoking
pacing through the halls
contemplating rooms
on tiptoes,
too scared, even
to piss
in the centre
of the bowl.

He hisses and jabs the coins at her

lip studded, he scowls me away
with a flick of ash
and a drag on his g & t.
